What is an invoice?
An invoice (ใบแจ้งหนี้, sometimes called ใบวางบิล) tells the customer how much to pay, by when, and into which account.
If you are VAT-registered, the invoice can be issued as one set with the tax invoice. If you are not registered, your invoice must not be headed “ใบกำกับภาษี” (tax invoice).
What an invoice should include
Seller’s name, address and tax ID
Customer’s name, address and tax ID, if any
Invoice number, date and due date
Items, quantity, unit price and amount
Discount, VAT 7% (if registered) and total
Withholding tax and net amount due (when a company customer must withhold)
How to pay: bank, account name, account number or PromptPay
On withholding tax: when a company or other juristic person pays you for services or hire of work under an agreement worth 1,000 baht or more (even if each instalment is smaller), it withholds 3% and gives you a withholding certificate (50 ทวิ). Source: Revenue Department

Common questions
What is the difference between an invoice and a tax invoice?
An invoice is a request for payment that anyone can issue. A tax invoice is a tax document that only VAT-registered businesses may issue, and it must carry the items in section 86/4. Registered businesses may issue the invoice and tax invoice as one set.
Who deducts the 3% withholding tax?
The payer, when it is a company or other juristic person paying for services or hire of work under an agreement worth 1,000 baht or more; it then gives the payee a 50 ทวิ certificate. Your invoice should show the deduction and the net amount so the figures match.
What about 3% withholding tax and PromptPay?
Both are Pro features for Thai businesses: switch withholding tax on per invoice and the deduction and net amount are shown, and your PromptPay number becomes a scannable QR on every Pro invoice charged in baht. VAT 7% is included on every plan.
When does the app issue a “tax invoice”?
The app uses the ใบกำกับภาษี (tax invoice) heading only when you switch on VAT registration in Tax settings; with it off, the same invoice is headed ใบแจ้งหนี้. Switch it on only if you really are VAT-registered — issuing a tax invoice without registration is against the law.
